Admissions
Steps to Apply

Nursery, Pre-K, K

All interested families are encouraged to apply, as a child's current level of French is not one of our selection criteria. In Preschool, 40 percent of our students do not speak French at enrollment. Each class has two teachers, one French-speaking and one English-speaking, who accompany children along their path to bilingualism.

Nursery, Pre-K, K Admissions Criteria

We follow a set of core criteria to establish admission eligibility.
  • Your child must be 3 years old by the first day of school to enter Nursery.
  • Your child must be 4 years old by December 31 to enter Pre-K.
  • Your child must be 5 years old by December 31 to enter K

Our Process

The Lycée follows the admissions calendar of other New York private schools, set by the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). Applications must be submitted in the fall ahead of the school year being applied for.

The deadline to submit an application is December 15.

Once we receive your application, you will be able to schedule a time for both your child’s evaluation and for your own parent interview. The Lycée team works hard to put together a well-balanced and diverse community of students who will thrive in our bilingual program.
Nursery (3's) applicants are welcome in very small groups in a classroom setting and the presence of a parent (only one) is required.
Pre-K and Kindergarten applicants are evaluated in small groups in a classroom setting. If your family lives outside of the New York metro area, and you cannot attend an in-person evaluation, we gratefully ask that you provide detailed school reports from your child’s current school in order to strengthen the application.

We notify all parents in February (the specific date is set by
ISAAGNY.) If your child is accepted, you are asked to return a signed contract with a non-refundable tuition deposit of $3,500 in order to secure your child’s spot.
