  • What does the Annual Fund help to support?

The Annual Fund allows us to:
    • Exceed the health and safety standards set by the New York Department Health to keep every member of our community safe,
    • Increase the financial aid we offer families to ensure that Lycée remains a dynamic and diverse community where every student will learn from each other,
    • Invest in our academic programs to ensure the Lycée continues to offer a rigorous education and rich course offerings that will allow every student to learn, grow, and thrive,
    • Provide students with exciting opportunities outside of school hours in our after school and athletic programs, and so much more.
  • Why is it important that I participate?

Participation in the Annual Fund demonstrates our shared commitment and support of our school, its mission and the vision of our leadership.
  • What is a matching gift?

Many employers have a matching gift policy that can double or triple the impact of their donation. Please check your company’s website for more information about their matching gift policy and how to apply.
  • What is a pledge?

A pledge is a promise to the school that you intend to give a donation by the end of June, which is the end of the fiscal year.  For instance, I can pledge $2,500 to the school in November, but decide to pay this in March. It is a way to solidify your commitment to the school on your own timeline while making the promise to contribute in advance.
  • I am already paying tuition; why do I need to make a gift to the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is an annual fundraising effort that contributes to the school’s operating budget by providing unrestricted operating support. Your gift supports the programs and people that make the Lycée so unique. As an example, this funding gives us the ability to retain the highest caliber of faculty as well as to fund special projects in science and the arts. Your commitment makes an immediate impact on all students and is key to maintaining the rigorous learning environment of the Lycée.
  • I plan on attending the Gala, doesn’t that count as my Annual Fund gift?

Purchasing a ticket to the Gala does not count towards participation of the Annual Fund.  Although proceeds from the event do benefit the school, this event is a separate philanthropic effort by the school.  We ask all families to consider making a representational gift to the Annual Fund to maintain our participation rate if they decide to attend the Gala.  Donations to the Annual Fund are 100% tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
  • How much should I give?

Every gift of every size is important, meaningful and deeply appreciated. We encourage all members of our community to support the Annual Fund at a level commensurate with their ability to give and sustain every year.  If you would like to explore this further, don’t hesitate to make an appointment with the Development Office by calling 212-439-3852. Under U.S. law, the Lycée is registered as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization and donations are fully tax-deductible. Check with your tax advisor for eligibility.
  • How else can I help?

You can get involved! Volunteer to ask parents you know to contribute to the Annual Fund. Educate fellow parents about the Annual Fund. Continue to encourage all parents to reach 100% participation.
  • How do I make a gift to the Annual Fund?

The Lycée accepts checks, gifts of stock and credit. Credit card gifts can be made online at www.lfny.org/donate. Checks can be made payable to the Lycée (make sure to put Annual Fund in the memo section) and mailed to the Development Office or dropped off in person.  All pledges and donations must be paid in full by June 30th. Please visit our Guide to Giving for more information.

Supporting Project-Based Learning

    • The DNA-related courses at the Lycée are one of many projects across several grades made possible by the school's partnership with the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Laboratory. This wonderful opportunity highlights the many benefits of Project-Based Learning for our students: encouraging closer collaboration with teachers, building critical thinking skills, and fostering lifelong learning. Our partnership with the Cold Spring Harbor DNA Laboratory is thanks to a generous multi-year gift to our Annual Fund by a Lycée family, memorably brought to life by our science faculty and given true meaning by our students.
