Get Involved

Volunteers are essential to the success of many programs and events at the Lycée. Volunteering is a great way to get to know the community, make friends, and give back to the school at the same time. There are lots of ways to get involved, and many of the volunteer opportunities are flexible depending on how much time you are able to give—some can even be done entirely by phone or email!

To sign up for a volunteer opportunity, please complete the Volunteer Interest Form.

If you have any questions, please email volunteers@lfny.org.

  • Parent Class Delegate (All Year)

Parent Class Delegates are the most direct link between all parents and the APL's Executive Committee members. They serve to facilitate communication between the school and parents in each class. Each year, two parent representatives are selected from each class for all grades. They disseminate information pertaining to the class and represent the point of convergence for all general questions coming from class parents. Parent Class Delegates encourage communication among parents as well as support and encourage involvement in school life, in addition to building a strong sense of community. To apply, please complete this form.
  • Cafeteria (All Year)

Parents of children in CE1 and older are invited to assist the students with lunch in the cafeteria.

  • Grade Ambassador (All Year)

The Annual Fund is a fundraising effort that supports the school’s operating budget. These 100% tax-deductible gifts support the programs and people that make the Lycée so unique. The role of a Grade Ambassador is to educate fellow Lycée parents about the importance of supporting the Annual Fund and to encourage them to participate at any level. We strive to have 100% participation by Lycée families each year. Grade Ambassadors work in teams per grade level and receive support and training from the Annual Fund manager as well as the Annual Fund Co-Chairs throughout the year. The role is flexible enough for working parents and involves reaching out via email and making calls from the school to parents during special campaign periods.
  • Sustainability and Wellness Initiative (All Year)

Members of this team work closely with the administration to support and encourage school-wide initiatives related to sustainability and wellness, with a focus on mindfulness, recycling, composting, decreasing food waste, as well as nutrition at home and in the school.
  • Family Buddy Program (All Year)

The Family Buddy Program serves to welcome and acclimate new families to the Lycée.
Families who sign up will be matched with a new Lycée family with children of similar ages. The goal is to help alleviate some of those new school jitters by helping newcomers navigate our school and find answers to their questions throughout their first year. Once matched, we ask that you reach out to your buddy family to introduce yourself and hopefully arrange a time to meet, maybe even with the entire family!
