Cultural Center - 120 Years of Laïcité: Examining French Secularism through a Transatlantic Lens

Join Historian Helena Rosenblatt, Author Adam Gopnik, Philosopher Emmanuel Kattan and four Lycée students for a discussion on Laïcité, moderated by Dr. Arthur Plaza. On the 120th anniversary of the 1905 French law on the separation of Church and State, we invite you to a panel exploring the complexities of Iaïcité. By examining the French and American models side-by-side, we aim to move beyond historical misunderstandings and highlight how two different approaches strive toward the same essential goal: a free and pluralistic society.

RSVP

Free and open to the public. The discussion will be led in English.
