Letter from the Head of School: Building Bridges

Dear families,

Bienvenue ! You are exploring an education at the Lycée Français de New York at a most extraordinary time. The ease with which we now connect globally, the rise of artificial intelligence, the urgency of climate change, and a growing awareness of social justice issues invite us to rethink our relationships — with nature, technology, and each other.

At the Lycée, we strive to help students build bridges: across cultures, between people, and from history into the future. We think deeply about how today’s challenges and opportunities are shaping the lives of our students and believe that a holistic and humanistic approach to education equips them to thrive as citizens of culture and courage — in the world, of the world, for the world.

From Preschool through High School, our students benefit from the unique opportunity to learn and grow in a French-American cross-cultural environment. At every grade level, we emphasize robust academic knowledge, 21st-century literacies, cognitive and social-emotional skills, and the cultivation of interpersonal and intercultural attitudes and values — all essential for building meaningful connections across differences.

Our students engage in authentic dialogue, participate in cultural and artistic activities at school and in New York City, and collaborate to research and imagine innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. By fostering growth, realistic optimism, and hope, and by developing citizenship and leadership skills, we inspire students to see these opportunities as pathways to making a meaningful difference in the world — their shared home.

I am deeply honored to lead this exceptional institution, which celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2025. It is a privilege to work alongside dedicated faculty and staff, inspiring students, and supportive families and alumni as we navigate these remarkable times and strive together to build bridges for a brighter future.
