In the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, the Lycée Français de New York takes the rigorous French curriculum as its starting point and embeds the best practices of both French and American teaching and learning styles — all in a bilingual setting. Select spaces are available in our Elementary, Middle, and High Schools each year.

Admission Criteria for Grades 1 to 12
- Starting in Grade 1, students are required to speak, read, write, and understand spoken French.
- For all applications to Grades 1 to 5, both current Lycée and prospective parents/guardians are required to participate in a virtual interview with a member of the Admissions Team.
- Students from French Ministry of Education-accredited schools are considered based on report cards and letters of recommendation. Check if your child’s school is part of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) network.
All students who are not currently in a French Ministry of Education-accredited program must take an entrance exam. Two subjects will be assessed: French and Mathematics. The Admissions Office will send you an invitation for the assessment. Families outside the greater New York City metropolitan area: The test will be sent directly to your child’s school for administration by school officials, or it will be live-proctored via Zoom by our Admissions Team.
Admission Process
The admissions process begins in the fall of the year before your child’s prospective enrollment. The number of available places varies each year based on attrition across all grade levels.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year on a rolling basis. Please contact us to inquire about the availability of spots.
Review Process & Sharing Decisions
If your child is accepted, you must return a signed contract and a non-refundable tuition deposit within seven calendar days of receiving your acceptance letter.

Our annual Open House is an opportunity to tour the campus with our admissions team and our students. We also host online webinars on a variety of topics, from our Preschool program to Financial Aid.
These events provide an opportunity to meet our admissions team, school leaders, teachers, parents, and students for a conversation about what makes a bilingual education at the Lycée Français de New York so special.
