Our Voices: Bringing Diverse Stories to Young Readers

Lycée students of the student-run "Novelty Book Club" invite all to this student-created and moderated panel about diversity and inclusion in American children's literature. With panelists who include: award-winning children's literature authors Kathryn Callender (Hurricane Child and This is Kind of an Epic Love Story) and Adam Gidwitz (A Tale of Dark and Grimm series and The Inquisitor's Tale), as well as Nikki Garcia of Little Brown Books for Young readers, Sydnee Monday, of the Kokila imprint at Penguin Random House, and Beth Phelan, book agent and winner of the 2019 Children's Book Council Award for Outstanding Achievement in Diversity. The event is created in partnership with Children's Book Week , an annual celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading and the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. Last year, over 750 schools, libraries, and bookstores across the country participated. Children's Book Week will be celebrating its 100th anniversary
