Dr. Arthur Plaza teacher and Head of the History Department, presents his summer research grant: ''Learning & the Brain: What Every Parent Can Learn from Neuroscience & Educational Psychology" This presentation will help parents understand the impact of cognitive and non-cognitive factors that influence learning. It seeks to dispel neuromyths that have persisted during the last 50 years of cognitive research and done a disservice to student learners. Then it will explore the work on mindsets and intrinsic motivation to make the case that learning is not limited to a few intelligent individuals, but rather our neuroplasticity enables individuals to be lifelong learners.
