SUMMARY:Women Leading the Way - Official Exhibit Begins
DESCRIPTION:After a five-year wait\, “Women Leading The Way” is finally making its debut! Originally launched by art teacher Mireille Miller in 2020 to honor the centennial of Women’s Suffrage\, the art and oral history project was paused by the pandemic—but the inspiration never faded. This winter\, we are proud to showcase the talent of our Class of 2032 (Grade 6) students on the stories of the first women in their families to vote\, alongside work from past student artists from across the country. Join us at the Carter Burden Gallery from February 12 – March 10 to celebrate this professional exhibition of student empowerment and faculty dedication. \nLearn more about this show and The Carter Burden Network\, please see below. \nhttps://www.carterburdennetwork.org/

SUMMARY:Cultural Center - 120 Years of Laïcité: Examining French Secularism through a Transatlantic Lens
DESCRIPTION:Join Historian Helena Rosenblatt\, Author Adam Gopnik\, Philosopher Emmanuel Kattan and four Lycée students for a discussion on Laïcité\, moderated by Dr. Arthur Plaza. On the 120th anniversary of the 1905 French law on the separation of Church and State\, we invite you to a panel exploring the complexities of Iaïcité. By examining the French and American models side-by-side\, we aim to move beyond historical misunderstandings and highlight how two different approaches strive toward the same essential goal: a free and pluralistic society. \nRSVP.  \nFree and open to the public. The discussion will be led in English.
