Rough Cut Festival
Created in 2010, Rough Cut, the LFNY Short Film Festival, shows films written, directed, and edited solely by students outside of school or during the Cinema class. As usual, students are free to create films on any school appropriate subject; the only requirement is that the films are less than ten minutes long.
In the past editions, we were thrilled to include the participation of other schools throughout New York City and beyond. Last year, our festival received submissions from students of the Lycée International de Boston, and the Crotona International High School in the Bronx.
A jury of faculty, students and film professionals give out four awards : best Animated Short, best Documentary Short, Best Narrative Short, and best Experimental Short. The audience gets to vote for its favorite movie.
The beginning date for all film entries is Tuesday February 1st, 2017 The flash drive & DVD copies of the film MUST be submitted before Monday March 6th, 2017. They must be sent to any of the organizers (Mr. Samulski, Mr. Lacroix) in order to be eligible to participate in the festival.
