Early French Immersion for First Graders

A New Door Opens for First Graders

Our new program will give first-grade students a firm foundation in the French language, preparing them to thrive as they progress in their bilingual journey at the Lycée in second grade, third grade and beyond.

For first grade, students will be immersed in a class with bilingual first graders for art, music, English, and physical education. For French reading, math, and other subjects, they will be part of a small cohort of students learning French as a Second (or third!) Language.

An outstanding, caring pedagogical team will support your child's learning of the French language, as they continue to engage in the essential skills and subjects of first grade:

French-speaking homeroom teacher
Specialized French as a second language teacher for French language arts, adapted math and social studies
English teacher
French-speaking Art, music, and physical education teachers

Key language acquisition competencies will be regularly reviewed to provide teachers and also parent/guardians and students themselves with information about their progress and ways in which they can further their learning, both in and out of the classroom.

Additional Support

Students will join us for a special onboarding program, En route pour le français, two weeks before school starts in late August 2023
Students will take extra tutoring support in French from 3:30pm to 4:30pm every school day.
As outlined above, our early immersion program provides extensive personalized learning and tutoring support for each student. Please see below program costs for families, in addition to regular tuition and fees.

Early Immersion Program Fee: $12,500

"En Route for First Grade" On-Boarding Camp: $2,000

Extra tutoring each weekday in French: $2,975 per semester, or $5,950 for the year

The Admissions Process

Applications must be completed via our online application portal, and a non-refundable fee of $200 is required to apply. Once a profile has been created on the portal, an individualized checklist of all application components and deadlines will be generated and sent to you.
Once the application has been completed, submitted, and processed by our admissions team, we will contact you for an in-person interview at the Lycée about your child and your family.
During the late fall/early winter months, your child will be invited to take an English language based assessment in person at the Lycée, at the same time as your parent interview.
Admission decisions will be shared during the second week of February 2023.
