The Annual Fund

General Information

Providing critical yearly support to our operating budget through the generous donations of friends and families of the Lycée, the Annual Fund makes possible every aspect of a Lycée education and allows us to achieve our mission of preparing students to be responsible citizens equipped for the world of tomorrow.

The impact to the school by supporting the Annual Fund cannot be understated.  It is requested that all families at the Lycée make an Annual Fund donation of any amount every year. 

Gifts to the Annual Fund help bridge the gap between tuition and the full cost of providing a Lycée education, a deficit of $1,900 for each student, allowing us to maintain our budget.  The Annual Fund supports all facets of the tremendous educational opportunity, from improvements in curriculum, classroom supplies, technology advancements, staff recruitment and retention, and sports equipment, to financial aid for qualified students who may not otherwise be able to attend the Lycée.  We simply cannot continue to maintain, provide, and grow without your support.

Gifts and pledges to the Annual Fund are accepted throughout the school year through June 30.  Pledges can be made at the beginning of the year and fulfilled before June 30.

  • Leadership: $25,000 - $50,000+
  • Founder’s Circle: $15,000 - $24,999
  • Benefactor: $10,000 - $14,999
  • Patron: $5,000 - $9,999
  • Sponsor: $2,500 - $4,999
  • LFNY Tuition Gap: $1,900
  • Supporter: $1,500 - $2,499
  • Friend: Up to $1,499

FAQs

As a member of the Lycée community, what is expected of me?
In order for the Lycée Français de New York to continue to be a world-class bilingual school graduating classes of well prepared and enthusiastic students each year, we ask that each family make a donation to the Annual Fund according to their personal ability to give. 

Where should I focus my support for the fundraising activities and events at LFNY?
There are many ways we encourage the Lycée community to support the Development initiatives at school.  Making a gift to the Annual Fund should be your first priority.  All volunteer activities and donations made beyond an Annual Fund gift (to Gala, Fall Festival, Spring Fair, etc.) are greatly appreciated, though we request that all families participate in the Annual Fund at a level appropriate for them.

How much am I expected to give?
Generosity comes at all levels and 100% family participation is extremely important.  Gifts to the Annual Fund range at all levels and participation is our foremost goal.  The gap per student is $1,900.  We appreciate gifts of all amounts. 

Why is participation important?
Every student at the Lycée receives a high level education that tuition alone cannot cover.  As everyone is benefiting from this opportunity, we hope that every family will make a gift towards filling this financial gap.  Making a donation to the Annual Fund, at all levels, is a vote of confidence and signifies that parents believe in the mission of the school and the importance of their child’s education.  This allows us to maintain our yearly budget.

Why is the Annual Fund so important?
Nothing is more vital to the daily operations of the Lycée than the unrestricted support provided by the Annual Fund.  This support funds the Lycée’s immediate needs on an annual basis and covers the $1,900 gap per student in what tuition covers and actual education costs of educating our students.

What percentage of my Annual Fund dollars gets to my child?
As the sole purpose of the Annual Fund is to offset to all of the operating costs of the Lycée 100% of these funds directly impact the students.

Why does the Lycée ask for Annual Fund contributions instead of simply increasing the tution?
The Lycée is an independent school and therefor receives no support from the American or French government.  As is the case with most independent schools, tuition does not cover the total cost of educating each student.  Contributions from our community to the Annual Fund make up part of the difference needed to cover the actual cost of operating the school.  Augmenting tuition through charitable gifts helps keep tuition at a competitive rate and provides many important programs and improvements that are essential to our mission.  Your Annual Fund contribution is 100% tax deductible and thus enables you to receive a deduction on your income tax, to the extent allowed by law.

What is a matching gift?
A matching gift is a donation made to the LFNY by a company on an employee’s behalf to match that employee’s tax-deductible contribution.  Matching gifts can double or triple the value of your contribution to the Lycée Français de New York.  Many companies also match the gifts of retirees, spouses, surviving-spouses and outside directors.  We encourage all families to check if their company will match their tax-deductible gift.  For more information on Matching Gifts please click here (hyperlink to the Matching Gift tab).
