Recruitment of French Teachers
As one of the only Manhattan schools to teach consistently in French, and to promote the rigorous learning French schools are renowned for worldwide, the Lycée Français de New York actively recruits French-speaking teachers from abroad who hold the appropriate diplomas to teach in their specialty.
General Information about the Recruitment Process
Should you apply for a position with the Lycée Français de New York and/or be recruited by the school, you will receive documentation regarding the Lycée’s status, contract type, the school’s mission, job description, salaries, medical insurance, and reimbursement policies, among others. The information below provides a brief overview of some of these areas.
Lycée employment is considered to be a local position, and is regulated by an annual contract, based on American law, which may be renewed upon satisfactory performance.
Teachers are expected to invest themselves in the school and be available with respect to the students and the Lycée (teaching, substitution for colleagues, support, meetings with parents, monitoring meals in nursery school, etc.) as well as for other additional tasks which may be assigned within the framework of employment with the Lycée. You can learn more by reading the complete job description here.
The salaries of teaching staff are based on an internal matrix of Lycée wages which weights full-time teaching experience with other factors to determine proper compensation for each position.
