Lycée students have the opportunity to participate in a diverse roster of extracurricular sports and activities as part of their Lycée Français de New York experience. Providing a great benefit to children, extracurriculars create children who have a better attitude about learning, are more engaged, and enjoy a higher sense of competence and self-esteem.
Currently, we offer two types of programs for 6th through 12th Grade, both designed to offer learning and an increase of technical skills in an after-school recreational environment. These include:
- Team sports (30 teams in different leagues with other schools)
- Intramural clubs (artistic or sports-oriented; 10 participants minimum)
Both parents and students should be aware that team sports require a strong commitment, typically three sessions per week with variable additional days of practice. Policies regarding students’ behavior and attendance will parallel the internal Lycée rules. Our school retains the right to expel any participant (without reimbursement) if these rules are not respected.
A non-refundable commitment fee of $500 allows your child to participate in the extracurricular sports and activities program. This amount allows you to choose team sports plus one club or two clubs maximum.
The following three clubs are not included in the program and are subject to additional fees:
- Tennis 6th - 9th Grades
- Swimming
- Skiing
