Computer Science Teacher (Secondary School)

Reports to: Director of Digital Learning
Start Date: August 21, 2017

Purpose:
The Lycée Français is expanding its computer science program to support the teaching of problem-solving skills and computational thinking skills, as well as offering programming courses and interdisciplinary project-based courses.  The computer science teacher will guide the process of building curricula, teaching courses, and providing feedback for future directions of the program.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following

  • Teaching middle school mandatory computer science courses
  • Teaching high school elective courses
  • Serving as an advisor for 8-12 students
  • Leading after-school activities in the area of computer science
  • Working closely with the math department to explore elements of the French math curriculum that focus on computer science skills
  • Collaborating with the maker integrator to develop ties among computer science, fabrication, and engineering

The Lycée Français de New York is seeking an exempt, full-time Director of Technology Operations, reporting to the Chief Information and Data Officer, whose role is to manage the technology operations, aligned with the school’s technology strategic plan. He/She is responsible for providing high-quality service to the school community.  This is achieved by implementing and maintaining high-availability and secured network, systems, and equipment that are responsive to the needs of the School. He/She is a member of the Extended Executive and Operations teams.

Director of Technology Operations’ responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing overall IT and A/V day-to-day operations, including supervision of help desk ticket escalation, network and infrastructure health and equipment (classroom and end-user) management and maintenance
  • Overseeing the Technology Operations Department staff
  • Maintaining a high-performance, high-availability and secured IT environment
  • Providing Level III (and above) Help Desk support
  • Establishing and enforcing IT standards, procedures and policies to ensure consistency, reliability and compliance.
  • Approving equipment requests and loans in compliance with the school’s standards
  • Maintaining documentation of all IT operations and systems
  • Monitoring performance of infrastructure elements, on-premise systems and end-user equipment
  • Coordinating with the Technology Operations team, the Chief Information and Data Officer, the Director of Digital Learning, the Director of Facilities and the school’s vendors/installers in managing equipment (infrastructure, end-user, classroom) life cycle : purchase, installation, deployment, decommissioning, replacement, donation
  • Collaborating with the Data team in implementing cloud/on-premise systems integration
  • Assisting the Chief Information and Data Officer and collaborating with the Director of Digital Learning in designing the school’s technology strategic plan
  • Assisting the Chief Information and Data Officer in managing Disaster Recovery Plan implementation, maintenance and documentation.
  • Collaborating with the Chief Information and Data Officer in establishing metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements for driving the performance of IT operations
  • Implementing data policies set by the Chief Information and Data Officer in all IT systems
  • Collaborating with the Chief Information and Data Officer in managing a cost-controlled budget for IT infrastructure, equipment and operations
  • Identifying requirements for expansion and programmed obsolescence of infrastructure, systems and equipment based on security, performance and the school’s needs.
  • Assisting the Chief Information and Data Officer in reviewing, prioritizing and approving annual IT-related initiatives

The Position
For the position of Chief Finance & Operations Officer (CFOO), the Lycée Français de New York seeks an organized and goal-oriented manager who will embrace the culture and values of the institution, possess an understanding of and appreciation for both French and American cultures, and respect the operational pace of an innovative institution with high standards and expectations. Occupying a unique niche in the New York independent school scene while also serving a diverse and multinational population, the Lycée offers it next CFOO an opportunity to play a prominent senior administrative role, working closely with the Head of School and Board members, overseeing roughly 38 staff members working in three separate departments – Business Office, Facilities, and Human Resources, and working collaboratively with IT on strategic, budget, and personnel matters.

The ideal candidate will assist in the implementation of the 2015 strategic plan, which articulates a bold vision for the future of the Lycée’s academic program, facilities, and reputation. Recent years have seen significant changes at the Lycée, with improvements in faculty roles, responsibilities and remuneration, the opening of the York Wing, and advances in student-centered learning. The new CFOO will work with the Head of School to continue this progress, serving as a key strategic partner and sounding board.

Moreover, the new CFOO will be integral in developing the school’s full adoption of digitalization in all of its processes and will help create performance metrics across the financial and operational spectrum that will inform strategic planning and decision making in a major way. Associate Director of College Counseling



Lycée Français de New York, a pre-K through twelfth grade coeducational, bilingual, independent day school in Manhattan, serving 1,330 students, seeks an Associate Director of College Counseling.  Founded in 1935 and regarded as one of the most renowned bilingual, international and multicultural schools in North America, Lycée Français de New York (LFNY) is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools, the New York State Board of Regents, and the French Ministry of National Education. LFNY is located in a state-of-the-art single-campus building located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York.

The Position

Reporting to the Director of College Counseling, the Associate Director joins a collaborative team of colleagues in a newly created position.  All job responsibilities revolve around providing personalized US college admissions and financial aid counseling to all students and their families. The Associate Director is responsible for composing original letters of recommendation for assigned students, participating in and improving dynamic group presentations for students and parents, meeting established deadlines, handling confidential materials with discretion, and contributing to the planning and management of office programs and policies. The Associate Director works closely and collaboratively with Lycée faculty and staff, represents the Lycée to college admissions representatives, and assists in the administration of AP and PSAT examinations. In addition, the Associate Director of College Counseling is responsible for visiting college campuses and actively participating in professional conferences, engaging in school community life, and educating all Lycée constituents on the landscape of both national and international college admissions. The Associate Director is also responsible for supporting new and effective methods for helping admission offices understand the high caliber of the Lycée, its curriculum, and its students.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required.  The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in either college admissions counseling or in US selective university admissions and financial aid.  Strong skills in listening, counseling, written and verbal communication, public speaking and technology are necessary.  Candidates must be able to connect with a diverse group of students and parents and have an interest in working in a vibrant international community.  Knowledge of French is helpful but not required.  Strong organizational and time management skills are required and the successful candidate must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends to support college counseling programs and to travel to colleges and conferences.  Candidates must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.

Database Manager
