Technology

Recognizing the role technology plays in enhancing education, the Lycée has adopted a number of technology platforms, hardware and software to complement our curriculum.

Laptop Carts

Laptop Carts allow our teaching staff to share technology in an efficient and effective manner, reserving Carts as they are needed to provide a relevant tool to studies. Laptops are utilized to support teachers’ lesson plans in a variety of ways, such as in conjunction with lessons taught on the SmartBoard or for writing for language classes, projects, and other similar exercises. Currently, our school employs the following:

  • Three Windows Tablet PC laptop carts – 25 laptops per cart
  • One Mac laptop cart – 25 Mac books per cart
Computer Labs

There are three dedicated computer labs. In addition, our four dedicated science labs are each equipped with computers at each student station. All computer labs and libraries are Internet-enabled.

SmartBoards

SmartBoards (and their associated SmartTables) create a unique learning environment that allows our school to leapfrog into the world of interactive learning. Every classroom has a dedicated SmartBoard, and all classrooms for the Primary School have a dedicated SmartBoard with SmartTables assigned to l’école maternelle (Early Childhood Preschool Program).

Community Website

The internal hub of the Lycée’s communication, our password-protected intranet site creates enormous efficiencies for faculty and parents. The site hosts key data school-wide and brings an invaluable resource to faculty members for managing and maintaining students’ homework, absences, afterschool clubs and classes. The LFNY internal site is accessible only to authorized staff at the Lycée. Parents receive individual login information, which they use to view attendance records and to update contact and emergency information.

Currently the community website is used for:

  • Attendance – Teachers use the website to track and monitor attendance.
  • Homework – Teachers assign and track homework for students online. Students and parents have access to view current and past assignments online.
  • Scheduling – Schedules maintained by LFNY staff are accessible online through the community website, allowing parents and students to view course schedules throughout the year.
  • Grades – Grading is performed online, and grades and report cards may be sent out electronically.
  • General calendar – A shared community calendar is kept up-to-date through the community website, allowing parents and students to view A/B weeks, special events and permanence/vacation days electronically.
  • Documents and forms posted online – Documents, forms and various electronic materials are made available to the internal community using the LFNY website.
  • Shared folders – Teachers and students have access to a robust folder sharing resource which allows the exchange of documents and files.
  • Remote access – The LFNY staff has the ability to work remotely, giving great accessibility to employees throughout the school year.
Email Blasts

An ongoing series of email communiqués are used to notify all or selected parents of general and specific events and alerts as they pertain to the Lycée, their child, events and activities. Email addresses are only used for the school’s express purposes and are never shared.

Special-needs students

Laptops are assigned for special-needs and injured students to aid them in maintaining their studies. Special needs include but are not limited to: physical inability to come to class, injuries, medical conditions, and disabilities.
